The speech of the confessor of Empress Maria Feodorovna - archpriest Leonid Kolchev - at Her burial on October, 19th, 1928.
So, this happened...
The candle of the cleanest wax has burnt down. The spark has died out. Tsarina-mother has passed away. Millions of children of Russia have deserted...
Russia the Sacred, do you hear our gravestone sobbing, our funeral songs? Do you see this coffin with remains of Her, Who shared regal duties of Her spouse - the great Peacemaker Emperor Alexander III? Alas, Russia is held down by shackles of the slavery, even its name is destroyed, therefore only rather few have a possibility personally to bow to the coffin...
Do not be confused by it, our Tsarina-mother! An outstanding lot has fallen to You. God has erected You to the top of the terrestrial greatness, but also there You remained to be a person, whose destiny is grieve and sufferings. Even an imperial crown will not rescue from them...
You had to experience much of burning and deprivations during Your long vital way. You had a weak body, but strong spirit, you always kept courage, invariable trusted in the victory of the truth and true. Your example inspires us, Your spirit is preserved in our hearts. All this serves as the guaranty for the future revival of our darling Motherland.
The Lord did not let You to meet that joyful day here on the ground, but You will see it better from the height. The day will come and You will see the fallen off shackles of bloody oppression, the churches over flown with hotly and freely praying people, religious processions with the whole wood church banners and numerous icons, You will hear a rumble of bells and triumph of Your people, celebrating victory of the truth and true.
Here then all Russian people, orthodox people will sing on the bended knees to You and to all tortured members of Your Regal Family " accept with peace with the sacred "… And now, where the message about Your silent and serene death will reach, there - while furtively, here abroad freely, - everywhere in the dispersion entreaty flows to the God: "Accept with peace, My God, the soul of Empresses Maria Feodorovna". You nowadays require only this pray, and it will help us to go through bitterness of the heavy loss…
You see, You hear, my spiritual daughter, I have executed Your will with all possible means, now it is Your turn. Please execute also mine and not only mine, but through me - the unworthy - the request of all Russian people: forgive us, Mother, all insults and the afflictions, with we caused You willingly and unwillingly, consciously and unconsciously… and when You come to the Throne of the Lord of Glory, Who, we trust, will accept You in His kingdom as You have created a church for Him here on the ground, please pray to Him: My God, You know, how heavily Russian people suffer, I beg You, change Your anger to mercy, listen to Mine and their prayer…
Farewell, our Tsarina-Mother, and on behalf of all loyal to You people accept my bow to the ground.
